Day 9

In your own space, rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) but you ended up loving. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Ok, so the easy first choice for this is

5U175, a Suits fic by Closer, which I didn't think I'd be into for the simple reason that I'm not in Suits fandom, nor have I ever seen an episode or read any other fic for it. I had a vague idea that it was a USA show involving legal something and Gina Torres and a redhead named Jessica, and two guys named Harvey and Mike, though I couldn't tell you which was which. But I'm a complete sucker for fandom meta AUs and for star trek, and this has BOTH (be still my heart)! Harvey (older dude?) is a star trek BNF and Mike (younger dude?) is in star trek fandom and they butt heads and then become online friends while also having drama IRL and it's really well written and just hits all my buttons SO HARD.

Second choice is also easy:

Jaws, the podfic, a Hawaii 5-0 story read by themusecalliope. Again, I'm not in H50, and have never seen any episodes. I knew even less about this fandom than I did about Suits, actually, and after reading a bunch of fics I still can't can't keep straight if Danny or Steve is the tall one, and whether that correlates with being a Marine (?). I think Danny has the kid. But who cares, because MERSHARK AU. MER. SHARK. AU.
I'm reccing the podfic over the written story here because while there are some stories that work better as a written story, some work better as podfic. I couldn't tell you why that's the case here, except that themusecalliope is a podficcing goddess.

Ok so three was pretty easy too

The Migratory Patterns of Omegas, a Teen Wolf fic by clio_jlh. I didn't think I'd be into this, not because I wasn't into the fandom, but because it's a/b/o, which is not a trope I'm all that fond of. But there's not a lot of F/F in Teen Wolf, and I really like the author's other work, so what the hell? BUT IT'S SO GREAT YOU GUYS. For one thing it's got section breaks in an academic-textbook style that tell you more about the world the author built, and I'm a complete sucker for that. For another, it's just really, really sweet and cute, and the characterization is adorable. Even the ovipositor was adorable.

Day 10

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

Ack, another hard one. Which is the point, right? Ummm...

thing one: fanworks about DUM-E (the robot from Iron Man, featured in my icon). I have no clue why I'm so damn attached to this robot, but I'm really damn attached to this robot. If someone could write me a mini-drabble about DUM-E, or do a sketch or a DUM-E icon or something (I made this one as a stop-gap measure, but am not too happy with it) I would love you FOREVER.

thing two: fanworks in a funky format. Gimme a list of ten hashtags your favorite character uses too much. Gimme only one side of a phone conversation. Gimme a song for your OTP and thirty seconds of audio that consists entirely of you squeeing over how perfect this song is for them. Gimme an icon that's made to look slightly akilter. I just really like seeing what people can come up with when told to bend some of the rules - just enough that it still makes sense, but maybe doesn't fit quite right. I'm very multifannish and have a bad case of fandom osmosis, so whatever tickles your fancy :D

thing three: I really can't come up with a third thing and it's starting to stress me out, so there is no third thing. #makingloopholes
